Killings

The up rise of murder continues in mostly large cities like LA, Chicago, Baltimore, Detroit, NY and my hometown of DC., news coverage, headlines, top officials, revolving the same old recycle statements, families, mostly tearful women sobbing over a young life loss way too soon, people talking of what a shame it is, how bad things have gotten, wanting a new police chief, calling out the mayor or council person where the killings occurred, in a week, a day another killing occurs and the repeat goes on, more of the same useless unwelcome talk, cries for changes, funerals, excuses, too many excuses.

Some won’t like reading the rest of this post, there’s a lot of blame to go around, blame the gun manufacturers, blame the police, blame the school’s, blame the politicians, blame the parents, blame the drugs, blame the victims, blame the times, blame the music, blame anyone and everyone except the few young black males who are killing mostly other young black males and innocent bystanders caught in between their misguided gun fire, careless, senseless , wanna be thugs/gangsters who can’t/won’t stand on a tiny bit of their god given common sense, killing over blocks they don’t own, drugs they don’t control, senseless beefs of foolish wasteful minds.

Lock them up, let them out, give them something to do, give them jobs, where’s the men in their lives?, he’s a good boy, my son wouldn’t kill nobody, he was tripping on those drugs, we don’t own no plane’s, the man’s dumping drugs in our hoods, he got killed over that girl, he had the wrong colors on, he was on the wrong block, just in the wrong place at the wrong _ _ _ _ , more sad excuses, what do we do to slow, really slow the rising toil of lives loss on petty reasons from someone looking at someone, to not showing /respecting, to girls, to drugs, to money, to arguments, can equal time in a system where no reasonable person should want to be.

Areas with drugs, killings, poverty, crime is blame, little concern for the people or their problems was/is not top priority, it’s those people to blame, when those same problems arise in so called privilege areas, drugs becomes a larger health concern, instead of a lock them up , mental treatment, killings were a let them kill each other, to it shouldn’t happen in our area, when crime becomes a bigger problem, we have to do more to stop the spread, it should have been everyone’s concern before now.

So what can be done to stop murders?, …. we can do things to slow murders but they all will have to be done at the same time for a long time, with full efforts. One of the most important things and the one that will likely take the most time and effort possible, is instilling in people the values of cherishing their life and the lives of other people, if people have little respect for life they can more often take a life, even their own. Our history is full of hard working, good people, doing what’s reasonable in life, not the few who kill and the few who protect those who take a life, we have many who grow up in very troubling situations but don’t pull a trigger.

Solving murders quickly with true sentences can deter more murders. Communities aggressively engage in true law enforcement, gun manufacturers putting funds toward convictions, education, especially when their guns are part of a murder, law enforcement being civil and protective of people who help solve cases, more business, churches, schools organizing in support of the well being of youth, before saying this is old stuff and giving in, old stuff applied with determination, respect and full engagement will not be a quick fix but can shorten the long term effects of standing by, watching, doing little, before murder knocks at your door.

Let’s face it, killings are not going to just stop, most people don’t care about killings unless it’s close or occurs to someone dear to them, most gun laws are just words on toilet paper to criminals, Black Lives Matter less in most crime ridden, low income, low educated areas. We know within a day or two another young person will be murder by another young person(s), more than half of the time the murder(s) will not be apprehended, families will suffer, most people won’t snitch, news will lead with report of a shooting, a death, people will move on, blame will linger.

Killings/shootings have made some people immune to the constant deaths, some will protest police shootings/ killings, but ignore killings on their own block, neighborhood even if they know some details, others are embedded with criminals, some not trusting law enforcement, whatever the reason we know murder is wrong, it’s the worst crime of all and anyone who murders a human should be quickly apprehended and held accountable.

More helping hands needed.
Solving murders quickly can slow murders.

  1. I strongly agree that the Justice system is broken and has been for too long, criminals get a slap on the hand and back .on the streets to continue more crime and more brazen than the first.

The DC criminal justice system is broken. Police arrest a minor with an illegal gun and even if convicted, they are back on the street the next day!
